December 7-13, 2015

For this post, I'm going to just write about somethin that's been on my mind for today, and anything else that comes up as I write.

Today, I am grateful for my talents.

I have been making gingerbread all afternoon, and tonight, Todd and I will be delivering it to a long list of friends. Later this week, we will be making about the same amount to give to more people as well.

It smells amazing, and it's so good. I'm really excited to deliver these to our friends. Since moving, though only 20-25 minutes away, we rarely see anyone anymore, and it is a bit isolating. However, Christmastime provides the perfect opportunity to go see friends who will be moving, or graduating, or that we just haven't seen in ages. We did this same thing last year (though, admittedly, with smaller loaf pans, and fewer people on our list), and it was great. With most everyone being students, they don't typically give things out to neighbors; and, again, with everyone being students, friends often don't swap gifts with each other. But by making gingerbread, we were able to stop by, and let people know we were thinking about them.

I love that my aptitude and love for cooking/baking allows me to enjoy good foods (and know which ones are truly the best :) ), but I am even more grateful that I am able to share my creations with my friends.

I may like nothing better than spoiling the ones I love––and though this is a simple act––on a large scale, it becomes a way I can treat and reach out to everyone. One of the best things, in my opinion, is making something you know is amazing, and giving it to others to enjoy!

Bottom line, I guess: I'm grateful that my talents allow me to spoil others when I want to.
